The African Cultural Renaissance Movement (ACRM) extends our heartiest congratulations to our Vice President Mr. Rowen A. Johnson who was recognized as the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership (JDSEEL) Student of the Year. Mr. Johnson who collected his award at the College of Business and Management (COBAM) Annual Awards Ceremony, was being recognized for his academic performance, as well as his service to both the JDSEEL Student Body and Staff. He had also received a second award for the night, being recognized as one of two students by the President of the University, Prof. Stephen Vasciannie, for his community service activities. Additionally, Mr. Johnson collected the UTech, Ja Business Model Award on behalf of the winning team, Sustainable Food Cart, whom he represented at the 2017 National Business Model Competition.

Mr. Johnson is a final year student, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. He has been an active member of the ACRM for the past three years, and has also served as the Director of Editorials for the School of Business Administration/Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership Student Executive Committee. Mr. Johnson is also a published author, having released one title, “Find Your True Purpose: A Heuristic Approach to Discovering God’s Plan For Your Life,” and a serial entrepreneur who has either founded or been a partner in more than four ventures over the past three years.

Tasked with presenting the vote of thanks on behalf of all the awardees on the night, it was the support system of their families, friends and the University Lecturers who Johnson credited for much of the success achieved by the evening’s recipients.  Furthermore, Johnson intimated that it was a very humbling experience for all awardees, to have had their efforts recognized, and thanked the leaders of the College of Business and Management “for their continued acknowledgement of our achievement as students as it served as fuel for us to keep striving for excellence.”

The African Cultural Renaissance Movement is the oldest Pan African Organization among tertiary institutions. The organization was formed in 1971 and has as its main mission to promote African Culture on campus.
