Straightforward : In honour of National Child's Day

Straight Forward

I charge us to speak up and really think
Are we equally to blame in this social stink?
The crimes we see and never report
Driven by fear of a corrupt police force
The abuse of a child that we ignore

Becomes our problem when later a young gunman is kicking off our door
The weaves we afford for every occasion
Though our children are deprived books for their education
The bank books that dry rot while the gambling slips multiply
We are a society that has come to believe its own lies
We have a role to play in advancing our nation
Believe it or not we are contributors to its degradation
Buy Jamaica, Build Jamaica truly has a nice ring
Yet we turn against our own products for made in China things
We shun national pride and dream of a green card
But as the saying goes “nuh weh nuh betta dan yaad”
The allocation of government benefits seems to be abused
But it is also likely that there is power play and misuse
The mothers collecting path funds spent on expensive hairstyles
The issue here isn’t always money, it is how we prioritize
The fathers who boast of having so many seed
Do you know how they are doing and if they can read?
The mothers with so many fatherless children and cursing the M.P.
Remember your kids are your responsibility
These are things we see but never say
We are all to be held accountable in every single way
For the sake of Jamaica, our beautiful land
Let us unite and take a stand
